In an episode released on the 13th by popular podcaster Lex Fridman, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang recounted his experiences during a visit to China this past May. He shared that he received an enthusiastic welcome on the streets of Beijing, with crowds gathering wherever he went—to the point that even the restaurants he visited quickly began using his presence as a promotional tool.
According to a report by MyDrivers (KuaiKeji), Huang remarked on his trip to China: “Oh my god, my trip to China was absolute chaos. Did you see those scenes? I went to downtown Beijing, and suddenly it became incredibly lively—it was total pandemonium.”
He jokingly added that every restaurant he dined at effectively turned him into a “spokesperson.” “They were so fast—within about half an hour, I was all over the internet, featured as a promotional draw for every one of those restaurants.”
On May 15 of this year, while in Beijing, Huang visited locations such as Nanluoguxiang and sampled local delicacies, including traditional Beijing-style zhajiangmian (noodles with soybean paste) and douzhi (a fermented mung bean drink). Videos and photos of his visit spread rapidly across social media, drawing significant attention.
At one point, Huang was seen standing outside the “Fangzhanchang No. 69” zhajiangmian shop, mixing his bowl of noodles and eating them with gusto, repeatedly praising the dish as “delicious.” Following the news of his visit, the noodle shop promptly launched a “Jensen Huang-style” set meal and set up promotional materials to capitalize on the buzz.
